Discipleship and Learning Agape Love of Christ Jesus
by

Reverent and Servant Brother, G. L. Boyett

Written in the Last Days 5/19/2016!
Our text for today is:

Mt.28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Strong’s Concordance
agapé: love, goodwill or:
Original Word: ἀγάπη, ης, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: agapé
Phonetic Spelling: (ag-ah’-pay)
Short Definition: love
Definition: love, benevolence, good will, esteem; plur: love-feasts.

26 agápē – properly, love which centers in moral preference. So too in secular ancient Greek, Strong’s Numbering system # 26 (agápē) focuses on preference; likewise the verb form (25 /agapáō) in antiquity meant “to prefer” (TDNT, 7). In the NT, 26 (agápē) typically refers to divine love (= what God prefers).
Christ’s definition of this word is found in Jn.15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Our joy is found when we obey the lord and all His sayings to us; Every word out of His mouth, Mt.4:4; Lk.4:4 and Lk.6:46, otherwise why do we call Him our Lord and do not what He has told us to do? The unspeakable joy that belongs to the Lord is brought to us by His Grace which is His favor, when we abide in Him and His sayings! Jn.15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman (The Holy Spirit, see Jn.4:24 as Jesus explains to us who the father is! Still unsure see Jn.14:1-9 to 18 to the end of this chapter and if this fails too see Jn.3:34 and 2 Cor.5:19-21, God the Father cannot be in Jesus without measure unless the father is called the father because of His role in Creation as we see in Gen.1:1-2, In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.).

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away (Has not power and will not bear fruits): and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit (They are filled with His Holy Spirit and bear His fruits and gifts of the Spirit which then can be tested and approved! See 1 Jn.4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.).

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (Unless we abide in the vine and keep all of Jesus’ sayings to us, we can remain friends with Him and share in His grace and love, His agape!) If not see Lk.6:46! You will not like seeing Him then, I can assure you!

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. (This is not just metaphorically either, see Is.66:24!)

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (Here is the key to all power and gifts of the Spirit, having a pure heart and the very mind of Christ Jesus 1 Cor.2:1-16 so that you can know how to use His power and the gifts of His Spirit, see Jn.14:18 and Lk.21:14-15, this too is seen in 1 Cor.1:1 Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their’s and our’s:

3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.) Back to Jn.15: and verse;

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. (See Jn.12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.) ~ Only they who know who Jesus is can be His disciple because Jesus has revealed Himself to them, see Mt.11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. ~

Back to John’s Gospel:

Jn.15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

This kind of Love ~ AGAPE LOVE ~ Is only found when we give our lives away to bring this gospel: The Instructions to the entrance to His straight gate, Mt.7:12-14, that few will find let alone get to go through, if you do not believe me then look to scripture; see Mt.20:16 and Mt.22:14 and few that there will be! That find the way to the straight gate and stay on the narrow way, His path by His directions to us, which are all His words of eternal life Jn.6:63 & 68 if obeyed!

DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING 101

Mk.8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Only they who have learned how to purify themselves can be His Disciples: Let us go to what Jesus told us first in Jn.14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth (See Jn.1:16-17); whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. (This too is seen in Lk.21:14-15!). 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.So if they have not had Jesus manifest Himself to them they are not a disciple of Jesus Christ; unless they have had Jesus reveal Himself to them as seen in Lk.10:22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

Jesus reveals Himself to those who will die for Him and this Gospel to lead another away from the gates of Hell, for all mankind is dead in its sin and headed for Hell; unless regenerated by God’s Spirit in them, Ac.11:1-18, this is God’s own repentance towards them, by giving them His Spirit, so they then can be taught of God, as Jesus was who had God’s own Spirit in Him without measure Jn.3:34! If you are ashamed of His words to us then He is ashamed of you! It is just that simple! His words to us are Eternal Life so why would anyone be ashamed of them or Him? If they Agape Him! They will die for Him as He died for us, so do not tell me His salvation is free! It most definitely is not! If cost Jesus His Life for each and everyone of us, He was wiped with what might as well have been barbed wire, that even exposed muscles and vital organs as well: He was unrecognizable! So do not ever tell me our Salvation is free! It will cost you everything it did Jesus, even your life and soul, if you want to be with Him forevermore, we must be as He is Amos 3:3 can two walk together unless they agree? No we too have got to be OBEDIENT TO HIS EVERY WORD OUT OF HIS MOUTH: From Deu.8:3 to Mt.4:4; Lk.4:4 Lk.11:28 Jn.8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
Jesus came to us from the Father of all Spirits see Heb.12:9, that is who God is as even talked about in the books of Enoch, God is the Father of all Spirits see Is.45:1 Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;

2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

4 For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

5 I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.

7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the Lord have created it.

9 Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

10 Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth?

11 Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.

12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the Lord of hosts.

14 Thus saith the Lord, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.

15 Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour. Just as it is revealed in Tit.2:9 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, (That is who Jesus is! Just as it was seen in 1 Tm.3:16!),

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Is that not what Jesus told us to do in Mt.16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
This too Paul told us as well in Gal.6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

5 For every man shall bear his own burden.

6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Will we not be known by our own fruits? Our fruits are our works people, if they do not line up with God’s Words to us guess what…We are not His people or Disciple, all we then will be is a Hypocrite! Lk.6:46! Every time anyone says casually, “Oh I’m a Christian” and turns right around and walks as the word does they blaspheme the righteous words of God and will receive just rewards for doing so! Mt.12:30-32 and 46-50 seen in 2 Pt.1:19-21 and all of 2 Tm.3:14-17 as well as 1 Pt.1:9-11 show us who wrote the Bible through Godly men of God who were carried by His Holy Spirit, I lie not! Unless our words and our actions line up with His we are not a people after his own name are we? So quite calling yourself one and only creating a greater Damnation of your Eternal Soul! Thus sayeth the Lord of all mercy and grace, that is only found through loving agape love of OBEDIENCE TO HIS EVERY SINGLE WORD, TO US! This is why we must be Born-Again of Him His way, so we can come behind not lacking in any gifts of the Spirit of Him in us! For we are to grow in His Grace and the Knowledge of Him 2 Pt.3:18, it is our commandment to us by His Ordained Apostles, Jn.15:20, that we are told to do by Jesus Himself our God with us Mt.1:23! Our Immanuel, that is who Jesus is, the One true God 1 Jn.5:20, and His name is Jesus the answer to Mt.28 and verse 19! For there is no salvation without that name given to us in baptism, which is the watery grave, where we die to self (1 Jn.2:15-17), and seek only His Heavenly ways that are only found in Jesus’ Gospel He taught in what are called the Synoptic Gospels for a reason Jesus came teaching them! The Gospels are instructions for entering into His Kingdom, for only Righteousness and Holiness will enter therein!
